Your Hair Journey
Learn what you can do to restore your hair and your confidence.
Hair restoration is a journey, and getting off to the right start with the right doctor is
most important.
  • Identify hair loss area

Over 70% of men suffer from some sort of hair loss by the age of 50. For women, 50% will suffer from hair loss by the age of 60. Since then, hair loss can affect your confidence, relationships and self-esteem.

Thanks to hair transplants, you have a medically proven treatment to solve it permanently. The earlier you take action, the more hair you keep and the sooner you get your confidence back.

    What is Hair Loss?

  • Finding the right doctor
Information about causes of hair loss and treatments are extensively available, and there are many options including low-cost surgeries performed by non-medical personnel. Any clinic that appears to offer competitive price is highly likely to use non-medical personnel performing the surgery, non-approved instruments, compromise on survival rates of your follicles or safety protocols.
What sets us apart is that you always meet with Dr Young for your pre-surgery consultation and post surgery follow up appointments, not sales team or consultant.
  • Consultation
When you contact us at Young Hair Restoration Clinic, it is understandable that you will have many questions, and perhaps feel uncomfortable speaking about your hair loss.
Hair Loss is a medical condition, hence the importance of seeing a doctor to firstly diagnose your condition, then formulate a plan for management lifelong.

As the first step, you will have a private one-to-one consultation with our head doctor - Dr Young – both options of video call or clinic visit are available. The consultation usually takes 30-45 mins and is highly educational and collaborative.
During consultation, your medical and hair loss history, physical wellbeing, goals and expectations will be discussed. Following a diagnostic assessment of your area of concern, Dr Young will examine your scalp with a Dermatoscope, he will then come up with a plan for the best course of action for your recommended procedure and discuss results you can expect. Your pre operative plan and photos here also form part of your medical records.

If you have any medical condition eg. Diabetes, we will assess and work together with your Endocrinologist. This is the importance of seeing a doctor for your consultation.

The consultation fee is $200 and is redeemable towards a Hair Restoration procedure.

  • Surgery
When we have agreed a surgery date that suits your schedule, you will receive a phone call one day prior to your procedure from one of our friendly team to go over what to expect on the day. Please note, in most cases hair transplant surgery is a full day procedure, and you will be expected to arrive at the clinic at 8am unless agreed otherwise.

You’ll be greeted by Dr Young who will explain your procedure to you, and go through risks and consent forms in detail.

As you will be in the Procedure Room for a while we make sure you have music and TV entertainment to your taste so you can immediately feel relaxed and distracted.

To find out what happens on the day in detail, please visit My Surgery Day.

All FUE surgeries are carried out at our Darlinghurst clinic personally by Dr Young. On the day of the treatment, you can be sure you are in good hands.

This all forms part of the continuity of care with Dr Young.
  • Post surgery & Aftercare

Dr. Young prides himself on his reputation for providing exceptional aftercare – not just in the days or months after your operation, but for years afterwards.

We urge you to attend regular follow-ups with Dr Young over the next 12 months of your procedure so that we can carefully observe your hair growth progress.

We see our patients as lifelong recipients of our hair care service.

About Dr Young

Dr Wayne Young

Hair Restoration Doctor, Sydney

Dr Wayne Young is the Founder and Head Physician of Young Hair Restoration in Sydney. He focuses on doctor-performed FUE hair transplantation, including refined hairline work, total unshaven hair restoration, and carefully planned long-term treatment strategies. Every patient is assessed by Dr Young personally, and every procedure is performed by him from start to finish.

At Young Hair, the focus is not simply on moving grafts. It is on careful assessment, age-appropriate design, donor planning, and creating results that look natural not just immediately after surgery, but over time. Dr Young believes hair restoration should be thoughtful, personalised, and performed with direct medical accountability throughout the entire process.

Why Patients Choose Dr Young

100% doctor performed
All procedures are performed entirely by Dr Young. He believes it is inherent to the role of a doctor to apply years of surgical training and clinical judgment directly to the patient, rather than delegating the essential parts of treatment.

Personal continuity of care
Dr Young sees every patient personally for in-clinic pre-operative and post-operative consultations. This continuity allows for a more consistent, complete, and closely supervised approach to hair restoration.

Long-term planning
Hair restoration should never be reduced to a simple graft number. Dr Young places strong emphasis on donor management, future-proofing, and planning for long-term natural outcomes.

Refined, individualised treatment
Every patient presents differently. Hair characteristics, donor capacity, age, pattern of loss, goals, and long-term risk all need to be considered carefully before a treatment plan is made.

Dr Young’s Background
Born in South Africa, Dr Young first gained exposure to plastic surgery in 1989 while working in a clinical setting. He completed medical school at the University of Witwatersrand and undertook plastic surgery terms at Johannesburg General Hospital and Concord Hospital in Sydney. He later moved to London to continue his surgical training, working in the surgical departments of The Royal Free and The Royal Marsden. On returning to Sydney, he trained extensively in general surgery for four years and then in plastic surgery for five years, working alongside many of Sydney’s respected plastic surgeons across major teaching hospitals including St Vincent’s, Westmead, Prince of Wales Hospital, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

This foundation in surgery and aesthetics informs the way Dr Young approaches hair restoration today: with precision, judgement, design awareness, and respect for long-term naturalness.

Hair Restoration Focus
Since 2014, Dr Young has been dedicated to hair restoration and has performed more than 2,500 procedures. He has trained in FUE techniques internationally, including in India, Greece, and Bangkok.

His approach draws on both surgical experience and an aesthetic eye. In hair restoration, technical ability matters, but so do restraint, planning, and design. A well-executed procedure should look refined, age-appropriate, and believable, while preserving the donor area for the future.

Dr Young’s work is particularly relevant for patients who value:

  • doctor-performed treatment
  • a more personalised assessment process
  • total unshaven options
  • thoughtful long-term donor planning
  • natural, non-template results
  • careful management of more complex or higher-stakes cases

Practice Philosophy

Dr Young believes that good hair restoration is built on five principles:

1. Proper medical assessment
A good plan starts with understanding the patient properly, not just reviewing photos.

2. Direct doctor involvement
Consultation, planning, design, surgery, and follow-up should be medically led.

3. Long-term donor stewardship
Donor hair is finite and should be used strategically.

4. Natural design
Hairline and density planning should be appropriate for the individual and remain believable over time.

5. Continuity and accountability
The doctor responsible for the plan should also be responsible for carrying it through.

Training, Memberships, and Ongoing Education

Ongoing education in aesthetic medicine, plastic surgery, and hair restoration remains central to Dr Young’s work. The continuing refinement of technique, judgement, and patient care is fundamental to achieving high-quality outcomes.

Areas of Focus and Innovation

Dr Young continues to refine his practice with a strong focus on careful planning, evolving technique, and patient-centred treatment design.

Areas highlighted on the current practice page include:

  • early use of TrichoTest in Australia
  • early use of multi-implanter techniques in Australia
  • the 3STEP Plan with post-care peptide therapy
  • the concept of Sustainable Hair Restoration and future-proofing patients
  • advancing minimal-downtime treatment through Total Unshaven Hair Restoration

These areas reflect a broader philosophy: hair restoration should not only address current concerns, but should also support a patient’s long-term appearance and options.

A More Complete Approach to Hair Restoration

At Young Hair, the goal is not template treatment. It is complete care.

That means looking at the whole picture:

  • the pattern and likely progression of loss
  • the quality and strength of the donor area
  • medical and non-surgical considerations
  • hairstyle, age, and aesthetic goals
  • the need for a result that still looks right years from now

For many patients, this level of planning is just as important as the procedure itself.
